I Will Not Defame New Orleans.

Two Nights

Two nights of fantabulousness. Wanna make it three?

Thursday I guest bartended with Mothra at The Abbey. For several years, I always ended up working at The Hideout on my birthday. They were always the most memorable nights — and by memorable I mean can't-remember-a-fucking-thing. But somehow through the murky haze of those foggy graveyard shifts, I remember those nights, traditionally my pajama party, being the best.

Tried to recreate it at The Abbey (sans pajamas), but I was thwarted a bit as it was not entirely My World like The Hideout was. It's hard to get a bar party going strong when I have to stop every five seconds and ask, "Um, Martha? Where's the, like, beer? And, um, how do you, um, like, work the cash register n' stuff?"

Many thanks to all of you who came out to see me and to partake of the bubbles which wafted down Decatur. I think I should bring that bubble machine with me wherever I go. Bars, restaurants, doctor's office, DMV, airports. Who doesn't like bubbles?

So then last night, I went with changingthesky to see…

…at The Shamador. The was a special show because one of the dancers is my old boss from Wired Magazine a zillion years ago and thousands of miles away. I hadn't seen The Indra in several years.

Watching their truly amazing burlesque show, Hespeth and I kept clutching each other, cooing, "We have the coolest friends ever! All of them! Best people ever! We are so lucky!"

And we are.

Post-stripshow cocktails with Michapoohkittenbutt at Monaghan's. Indra and Hespeth went off to giggle like schoolgirls for the evening. I, megahost that I am, took the rest of the troupe home with me for an evening of crashpaddery. We all stayed up till about 6am drinking and talking and laughing in my parlour.

Speaking of burlesque troupes, perhaps I should wake them up and start some breakfasty-type thoughts.

Yah, it's 2pm. Breakfast is beginning to sound good.
