I Will Not Defame New Orleans.

Where Time, Progress, and Cell Phones Stop

I've been on quite a splendid holiday this week. Just arrived home last night at midnight.

Most children's years revolve around Xmas or their birthdays. Mine, growing up, was 100% pivoted on our yearly trips to Lake Keuka in central New York state. I and my family have been coming to this idyllic, magical place every summer since I was born. When I was a child it was the most beautiful place in the world to me. Remarkably, it remains so today.

The little city, 10 miles from our lakehouse, looks like it came to a screeching halt in 1957 and hasn't changed since. There are still Amish wagons in the "downtown" (ahem) section. The little town's biggest (and only?) claim to fame is it was home to the world's largest pancake in 1983.
