It's the best way to do it.
I am covering Candace's shift at Hideout tonight. That's 6p–2a. I very, very rarely work this early.
The only other times I've worked this shift, something rather amusing has happened.
To see me behind the bar at the Hideout means that it is very, very late. At least past 2am. On the weird nights when I'm covering an earlier shift, I have seen people come in around 8:30 with a group of friends, laughing and merry-making and all that, wave at me behind the bar, stop dead in their tracks, consider things for a moment, happiness on face melting off in a moment of stricken horror, a wild searching for a friend with a watch and a panicked, "Oh my god! What time is it!?!?"
"Tee hee hee!" I have said, "Tee hee hee! No, you haven't suddenly lost eight hours of your life. But tee hee hee!" I reiterated.
You should come by and try it.
